Spring
Mow your lawn frequently with the mowing height set quite high.
Apply a good quality Spring lawn feed.
Overseed in areas that show signs of wear and tear.
Scarify to remove dead grass, roots and moss.
Summer
Mow less frequently as high temperatures can reduce growth.
A well cared for lawn will naturally recover from browning caused by drought conditions, but if you can water do so in the early mornings or evenings.
Most importantly at this time of year - enjoy your lawn. Play on it, lie on it and breathe in that freshly mown grass smell.
Autumn
Raise the height of the cutting blades and mow less frequently.
Overseed in areas that show signs of wear and tear.
Scarify to remove dead grass, roots and moss.
Aerate your lawn with a garden fork or spiking machine.
Remove Autumn leaves that collect on your lawn.
Winter
Only mow your lawn if necessary and avoid walking on it during severe frosts.
Clear leaves and debris that collects on your lawn.
Aerate your lawn with a garden fork or spiking machine.
Service or replace your mower making sure the blades are sharp. |
